wireless module problems - pls. help

Finally hooked mine up, and it sounded exactly like using headphones hooked up directly to the machine. Great. Until I turned it off/on later!
Sound quality went downhill - sounds much like talking to someone on the phone, when they are using a speaker phone. All but very shallow targets have a scratchy quality, or like being in an echo chamber...hard to hear the 'deep ones' in the same manner as before.
1. I did not drop the unit.
2. Returned to original mode, quality good as before...so the machine and headphones are not the problem.
3. Used the 'reset' on the module - no change.
Anyone else experience this? Any ideas? Thanks - you guys have always been really helpful. (It's because of you that I stuck with Minelabs way back, with it's 'squeaks and squawks'...best detecting decision I ever made!)

This is probably an over simplification, but, I had that same problem and it turned out to be the headset plug not completely seated in the WM10 module. If that is not the cause, have you tried the headphones directly in the machine and, if so, how do they sound then? What headphones are you using? One more question, when you say you "returned to original mode" everything was back to normal (good as before), is it still working well? If so, I would have to go with what James said.

My first WM10 module did have a problem with the charging circuit, however, a call to Minelab explaining the problem resulted in a new module on my doorstep three days later. Great service!

This is the first thing I would check

Agreed, sound like it was not all the way in. I have done exact same thing before.
