Wireless headphone's!

tundra

New member
Hello there,
Awhile ago there was talk about Radio Shack wireless headphone's.
I went to a store and there was some for about $60, is that the one's that was talked about ?
More info would be much appreciated!!!!!!!
Thanks!!!!!!!!

Thanks khouse!!!!!!!!!!
It will be awhile before I get to use them but want to be ready!!!
I am sure some of the buddie's will get them to.
Take care.

I just side-mounted a 33-1253 wireless on the left side of my MXT White's detector, and it works great. This will allow me to set down the machine while I dig, without being tethered to the headphone cord. The earpieces fit over the ear like sunshades, with the band Behind your head (not over the top like most).
Because the male connector coming out the the dongle (transmitter) is fragile (two stores had one in each store, but both were broken at the male connector), I have not only double-side taped the dongle to the side of the detector, but also put a piece of duct tape (yuk, ugly) across the male connector so it won't get tugged on by briars, etc. If it breaks, I have the year warranty.
I had to get a 12" extender (two male ends on the cable) and a female to female joinder so the transmitter (dongle) could be mounted to the side of the machine with double sided sticky tape and wouldn't just be plugged directly into the rear of my detector, sticking out where it was sure to be broken. No photos, but I've seen one (on this or another website) mounted the same way, Left side of the detector. This is necessary because the dongle has a green light when in service, which you want to be sure and see, and by mounting it on the left side, the male connector sticks out towards the rear of the machine for easy connection with the 12" extension. The dongle sends the monotone signal to both ear pieces, though not stereo, and the headphone has a volume control, plus the on/off switch. I keep a spare set of earphones in my pack, plus a battery inverter to recharge the Nimh batteries through my auto cigarette lighter. The unit should go 8 hours in operation, but I do have the backup. I hope this helps someone; sorry I don't have photos.

I keep a spare corded headset with me too. You never know when your going to need them. I'm glad it's working for you. You might be able to use some sticky back velcro to mount the transmitter. I see where some hardware stores sell it by the inch or foot.

They could be integrating the wireless headphone transmitters in the circuitry. Then offer us several styles of headphones to boot. We could pick from tiny ear buds to waterproof phones. Maybe it will be standard on the new super duper detectors.

You're right on! This has been my observation, too. The factory could do the job easier, putting the transmitter inside the case, and could do it cheaper than the aftermarketeers. I wonder when one of them will catch on?
