Wireless headphones versus wireless module

Having used both I think the Minelab style wireless module that you plug headphones into is superior to wireless built into headphones. I get to choose my headphones, and that is a big deal to me. And if the module quits I can still plug my headphones into the CTX. If the headphones die, I use my backups. Just a better way to go in my opinion.

I have not tried it but it also allows for shoulder mounted external speakers like those many GPX users favor these days. Not headphones but closer to the ear than the built in speaker.

In using both systems too, I have found they each have their pros and cons. What you say is true but we still are not wireless and one more thing to hang from our belt and we have to charge the batteries too. It is a lot simpler for me to plug the headphones into the CTX and not deal with the WM-10 at all, I have not found a use for it yet but I'm sure there are others who use and like it.

I modified my David Clark headphones with a mono jack and a bracket to hold the WM 10.

Ha! Well I will not argue that one Larry. Hard to beat simple. I guess I am assuming use of wireless, so which would be preferred. I took a liking to the wireless module while wading and now find not being tethered to the detector kind of nice.

I never thought I would like wireless but I love my VM10 like you the choice of phones and mostly the freedom from my detector turns out to be something I really do like.

I agree Steve,,,, the way it's set up suits me very well,,,, more options, and the remote speaker mode still saves battery life on the MD

LOVE the wm-10.....but like others above do not like the wires. Will be fixing the module to the phones soon and this will solve that problem!! I think minelab wanted us to choose our phones and this is why they did not opt for full wireless. Thanks Minelab!!
