wireless headphone $6.99 wow WOW

Drove to montgomery today.(original capital of the Confederacy) went to harbor freight to pick up one of there $14.99 pinpointers. Which by the way really impressed me with its quality and performance. It workes like the whites pinpointer. After looking aroind a while i came across thease wireless headphones that were $6.99 . They work on a 85klh range. The base for this thing was huge. But it was battery powered and seemed very light for its size. I took a chance and figured worst ccase im out a few bucks. Got it home and hooked it up to my 75 to see if there was a delay or if it was noisey. It was perfect! Very comfortable head phones and quiet and zero delay. I couldnt believe my ears. Of course the base was far to large and tall to velcro to the detector without looking so stupid and would be impractle. So i decided to take it apart an low and behold the electronics were tiny! I took the 1/2"x3" boaed and battery compartment and syiaconed them into a 3 1/2"x 3" plano plastic fishing box carefully cutting slots for power switch and line in wire. Painter the housing tan and velcrowed it to the side of my arm cuff. Looks good and works perfectly. ZERO DELAY. GREAT SOUND AT $6.99 what a deal! Little work and i have a great wireless headphone. Anyone wanting pictures email me at....jmann2543@att.net.......thanks......jeremi

Thanks for that info. You sound like me, electronic tinkering and modifying. I'll take a trip to Harbor Frieght tomorrow.

Also, I've been hearing more and more about that Harbor Frieght pinpointer. Is that a device for finding nails and such in walls like a stud finder or is it an actual pinpointer? I have a pro pinpointer and I also have a stud finder that I modified a few years ago. Works pretty well but it is too bulky. I don't plan on replacing the pro pinpointer. Nothing is as good as that device, but it doesn't hurt to have a backup.

Is an actual pinpointer. Go to you tube and u can see one. Or harbor freight. Com

Interesting. Would love to see your finished product

Here's the headphones in question:

I bet one could make a better headphone antenna concelled in the headband :nerd:

The antina doesnt need raising while in use. That photo is the correct unit. Harbor freight has a good buy on them if u can swing doing the basic mod. After several hours use they are worth every penny. Im picking up a secound set for the other detector this week.

If you have a Sovereign somebody said in that forum that those headphones don't work well with it. Just a precaution.

I bought the wireless headphones at Harbor Frieght today for $6.99. They work really great on the Fisher 75se, really good volumn and good bass. They don't work well with my Minelab xterra 50, very little volumn. I probably shouldn't over play this too much as I only tested this indoors. Not sure what it'll do out doors, hopefully no interference or random noises will be present. Plays FM stations as well for when I take a break.
And you are right, the transmitter is hollow, almost all "air." I removed the circuit board with no trouble at all. It is really small and weighs in at just 3.6 ounces including the two tripple A's.
The headphones are not too bad, comfortable and light weight. They feel a little cheap so not so sure of their indurance factor. I think over all, the whole set up sounds better than the 100 dollar wired headphones I am using.

Could these be modded somehow to work with the CTX 3030?

I bet they would work without that antenna. During use the transmitter and receiver are less than 3 feet apart. It's made to transmit (I'm guessing) 20-30 feet with the antenna. You don't need that kind of range...

Is the antenna easily removed (without breaking in case it doesn't work)?

Rapoo 3010 wireless headphones 2.4Ghz works perfect with my sovereign GT 6 Hrs of full action!!!! zero delay ... $45 on freebay

I actually just purchased a set of Rapoo h3070's should be here in a month (dx - china). 40 bucks shipped I cant wait to give them a go but heck this harbor freight set could be a fun mod..

There's something wrong with mine. It only works when I touch the positive lead of the input. I know there's a way to fix this issue with some basic components, but I haven't figured it out yet...
