WIRELESS HEAD PHONES

Dick from IA

New member
There are quite a few folks who have used wireless headphones, and reviews seem to be mixed as to performance. Some like 'em, some don't.

Two models seem to be most popular, Spann Solutions and Radio Shack.

Would appreciate any feedback & recommendations.

I would be using them primarily on an Ace 250, and am planning to add a SunRay probe this Spring. Assume they'd work OK on the SunRays as well as the Ace. Anyone done this??

Thanks.

Spann Solutions is sold out and won't be selling them again because the place he gets them from decided to only sell them at a minimum 1,000 units order. He don't have the money to do it a 1,000 at a time and it would take to long to sell that many of them to make it feasable any more.

Thanks for the information, LowRider.

The little guy just doesn't have much of a chance anymore. They're probably selling to large discount houses that provide nothing but sales. Service??.... :lmfao:

I tried using one (FM transmitter)- kinda worked okay. Velco'ed it in place. Eats batteries pretty quick. Then you have to carry a FM radio - which is not a big deal - Small Sony digital one - $28. I use a wired headset - if that gives you the feedback you're looking for.

Yeah I have the Sun Ray on my 250. Go to the top of the forum and read my field test that came out in Western & Eastern Treasures. I've got the wireless headphones from Span and they work great but been having trouble keeping the battery up in the transmitter.

Yea, Uncle Willy, I've read your review of the Sunray probe here and in the Magazine..Definitely think it would be a tremendous asset & would certainly help speed up recovery time on those elusive targets that seem to jump around and not be where the detector says it was.

So a wireless headset would be nice, eliminating one set of wires.

Great review, and BTW, the Sunray probes are made right here in little 'ol Iowa.

Can you tell me if the Spann phones will work on the Ace 300. I ordered them but can't seem to make them work. Would appreciate your comments. Thanks Al

They should. Are you sure you're hooking them up right and following the instructions for turning them on? They're a little tricky when not accustomed to them. Did you contact Spann to see if they were universal or detector specific?

Bill

Have not called Spann yet. Still playing with them. Probably me. I first hooked them up to a FM radio and they worked (after I replaced one of the bad batteries that came with it). When hooked to my ACE300 all I hear is a "faint thump" not a "clear beep". Surely it's supposed to do better than that. Also-I tried both freq. ranges with same results. Anyway - I will contact Spann if I can't figure it out.

Thanks for a speedy reply...........Al
