winter wear

New member
Hello everyone. Well winter has come to California and I am not sitting out another one because it is cold and muddy.I need some good winter gear and I was hoping that some of you could make some suggestions. What do you wear to stay warm and dry? Any input appreciated.

It sounds funny and they do look a little funny, but union suits are the best for beating the cold. Because they are one piece, there are no gaps around the middle to let in the cold breeze. Two hints from someone that has used them for years - always get a size larger than what you regularly wear AND look for the ones with the drop down flap rather than the button slit in the back (much more convenient for "potty sitting".)

As a base layer I like the compression under wear like the Under Armour cold gear. Very light weight and doesn't weigh you down.

I agree with the above posts...

If you have the time, go to Duluth Trading Cos. website and look around at the long tail tees and some of their gear...If you dont, then go to your nearest Tractor Supply Co. and buy off the rack..
Long tail tees were made for us! As are loose in the crotch farmer pants, flannel, zip up hooded shirts with another heavy double pocket loggers shirt worn over the top...I like to layer up or down as the weather dictates...like everything, good quality gear will make you comfortable and happy so you can hunt all day...If you need rain/wind gear, check out FroggToggs two piece ensemble...If you are going to be hunting a school campus frequently, go to GoodWill and get yourself a nice tweed jacket with leather elbows, some dress pants, a pipe, a Subaru, and a cool little wool hat so you look like a professor...

If you are a single straight man, and hope to meet your dream girl someday, try to put together a quality package that you can hunt in and at least look like you have some fashion sense, and not like a dork...shoes are important, (women notice details) you cant go wrong with LLBean rubber moc/boots...they certainly will last you a lifetime and will make you look manlier than you are! Also, with this in mind, hunt the dog friendly parks or beaches and carry some dog treats in your pocket, you might just score big if you are prepared! If you are happily married as I am, (dream girl 30+ years)... dress like a bum!...Nobody wants anything to do with you then and you can go about merrily picking up pennies.
