Winter tomatoes are ripe - pic

steve in so la

Picked some tomatoes yesterday - US half dollar for size comp.
Actually, they were grown in a greenhouse -'hydroponic' style. The taste like cardboard if we eat them now but were told to keep them in a closed paper bag to ripen. Any tips on this ? steve in so az

they are grown in water & additives only. They are huge plants with a tremendous number of tomatoes on them -steve

tendency to misread and jump to conclusions. I had thought you were asking how to get them redder on the vine. The paper bag thing will work. It's good to put an apple in with them. I have also used newspaper to wrap them up in. It makes them last longer.
