Winter time treasure.:garrett:

With the temperature falling and a nasty north wind blowing, grabbed my nasty north wind weather gear and headed out. Figured with low 30's temp. and a gusty wind, the elements would keep the riff raff at away. And except for the usual die hard walkers and joggers, dog walkers and one guy out metal detecting, it did.

Hit one of our old parks and almost four hours later I had put together a few keeper treasures. The 2 Washington's came out of the same hole along with a wheat cent. The sterling marked ring came near the end of my hunt along a sidewalk. The gold filled ring tried to hide as a pull tab with a 55-56 reading. Along the way, I dig 7 wheat cents with the oldest being 1919 and 1934, The rest, 40's and 50's.

High here tomorrow of 34. Good hunting weather. HH jim tn

Jim, awesome as always!! I always looking forward to reading your post and seeing silver in the pic's. Especially the park finds. And it's supposed to be down to single digits this weekend here in east TN. HH - WY

Jim finds like that get me motivated.:) Damn, I tried up for the next couple of days. No detecting for me.:detecting:

Nice going!

Great finds Jim ,what do you use to dig in frozen park ground without making a mess?

Our ground very seldom freezes here and if it does, no more then an inch. Couple inch wide blade Predator and Wilcox tools are what I use for park hunting. Both make a nice neat plug. HH jim tn

Nice finds. Your 30's temp here would be very welcome. My wife and I took the dog out for a walk at 5AM and it was exactly 0F. Thank God there wasn't any wind. Keep those posts coming. It helps scratch my detecting itch a little and makes the winter go by faster. Good luck and HH. Bob.

Nice hunting. :) I envy your weather...we just got another foot of the white stuff here in upstate New York. :(

Off to another great start to the year! :clapping: Amazing how you work the seasons/undergrowth/traffic/weather to help you max out the calendar..even little stretches of time...I sure have learned a lot following your posts!:please:
Mud.

Nice hunt, Jim! You're really cleaning that town up!!

one of my buddies and I braved the 20's temp. this morning and put 3 1/2 hours in. I did get the coil over 3 wheats and a well worn 1919 Mercury. It was so worn it was reading 79-80. I was hoping for at least a wheat cent as it was about 5" deep. Broke the clod open and saw that smokey disc laying there. Nice surprise. I'll include it in my next treasure post. Oh, saw a buck and 4 does off about 100 yards. Un-fortunately, I had left the camera in my vehicle. They would have made a nice shot. Thanks again. I learned when I retired some years back that I can't find treasure setting in my easy chair. Every day is an adventure. I do love the hunt, that's for sure. HH jim tn

Nice way to greet 2014 - just getting out at all is a victory around here.
Congrats on the silver and rings!
