I had little sleep last night as hurricane force winds played a tatoo on the hurricane shutters all night so I slept fitfully. I woke up making the sounds you hear from men several decades older than myself, my back was stiff as a board and it is now clear that my adventure with the eel yesterday has resulted in some pulled muscles and a pinched nerve.
My Princess needed a lift into work because the ferry and bus service was shut down due to the weather, this is as bad a winter storm as I have seen here since my arrival 6 years ago. I threw on some clothes, had my wife make me a hot water bottle and tossed my gear into the back of the jeep for the ride into town, traffic was really light as this is the Bermuda equivalent of a Snow Day. I dropped off my wife at her office and then grabbed a quick bite to eat before heading to the leeshore at Horseshoe Bay.

Conditions weren't too bad considering this is the sheltered side of the island but the wind kicked up the sand so that it was like hunting in a sandblasting booth. My second target came up a sweet 14k signet ring with a little diamond chip. I dug this just as two local boys were asking me if I was finding anything good, I left the ring in the bottom of the scoop as I told them "Nah, just a bunch of bottle tops, this storm has sure stirred up a lot of trash." They seemed happy with my reply and I was happy when I pocketed the gold after they continued on their way.

I had no wet suit with me and my back was still really stiff so there was no splash time today but I did manage to pull up two small silver tickets, a ferry token and almost $8 worth of clad (including a Canadian Loonie).

The exercise and the hot water bottle helped to take the stiffness out of my back but I can bet I'll be paying a visit to the Chiropractor before long.
Cheers All,
