Winter storage

Just wondering what folks do for winter storage on Excals, do you charge battery and leave hooked up and periodically charge through winter or charge and disconnect. This will be my first winter with an Excal, with rechargeable batteries.

Thanks
Steve

We usually hunt through the Winter here in NJ :) But to answer your question. Yes fully charge the batteries before putting it away but leave the battery disconnected from the detector. It really shouldn't matter if you leave it connected or not as turning off the detector disconnects the battery but I have always felt it was better to have the battery totally disconnected from any electronic device if it was going to be stored for a long period of time. The batteries should only lose about 10% of their charge per month so you really shouldn't have to recharge it during the Winter. If you were going to leave it for a year of more I would go with recharging every 6-7 months.
