my detecting season has ended for this year and i was wondering about the battery. it is a nimh. should it be charged or discharged before storage for the 4-5 months? thanks all

NiMH can be stored in either a charged or discharged state....just keep them out of high temperatures.

You can also charge and place them in an airtight plastic bag and keep them in the refrigerator.

If you store them discharged then this is okay but they may need a few charge cycles to reach capacity again.

Tony.

From what I've read it's better to drain them down to about 1/4th capacity and then store them in the refrigerator. It doesn't really matter too much with nimhs but just keep them from freezing or getting very hot.
