Winter project: Extension cord for the Sov GT

JimmyCT

Well-known member
This winter I want to make an extension from the female plug on my DTI II meter to my Sov GT control box. This purpose of this is so I can keep the unit hooked to me (hip mounted) while going from site to site and I will preserve the cable that is attached to the DTI meter. My question is where can I find the cable, one male connector and female connector to make this all happen? Thanks for your help - Jim

Jim,you can find these connectors on Ebay. You are looking for 6 pin Mic connectors male and female. With shipping you can usually find the whole kit or set for under $15.00,most of these are from Hong Kong.Good Luck Ron

I got some ends coming from Australia, but cant seem to find the cable anywhere, so if anyone knows where to get the cable I would like to know.

Rick

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the information on the mic connectors. Do you have any suggestions on the connecting wire? The belden wire I am using is rather stiff and would like something a little more flexible. Thanks - Jim

Takes about three weeks to get. I have one and it works great. It seems all my searching ends up in the UK. But this is the exact one I bought.

Mr. Goodmore,
Can I use it "as is" or do I need to change the wiring on the inside? Thanks - Jim

Jim you can use this for an extension pin 6 and 2 not connected and will need repinned. On Ebay under Mic extension cord there is a guy who has 10 of these with the male/female ends Buy it now 9.25 US and 3.95 shipping. A lot less expensive than the one from the UK..Note pins 6 and 2 not connected and will need repinnedGood luck Ron

Jim,followup, with the extension I suggested on Ebay the pin five wire would need connected to pin 2 and pin 6 is ok with no wire pinned. HH Ron

I think I understand what you are saying. If I buy one will you be my back up tech support if needed? I feel I might need more professional assistance on this job. - Jim
