Just went for morning walk! 28 degrees, wind 38mph and don't know what wind chill factor is!!! It just messed up my day of detecting!! Guess I'll go clean some pennies! <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry"> Ron, Rapid City, S.D.

We have been getting pretty cold here in Alaska to. I had an Idea. Last year I Metal detected in the snow here. Since our winters are so long you can actually hunt targets in the snow with some consistency. What I did have trouble with was digging through the Ice and hard packed snow. A digging tool with a heated tip similar to an iron that was powered with a battery would be great for quickly melting the ice or packed snow and exposing your target. Anyone know of anything like this? Any Ideas? Why let winter stop your detecting. Would probably be a benefit to meteor hunters also.
