[attachment 41322 WinterIslandSalem038.jpg]This is Winter Island light,used to be Red,years ago.[attachment 41322 WinterIslandSalem038.jpg]Heres some photo's of Fort Pickering,located on the base.[attachment 41323 WinterIslandSalem045.jpg][attachment 41324 WinterIslandSalem046.jpg]This Fort was from the Revolution,and Civil WAR.It was once surrounded completely,by a rock formed moat.Only one side remains,not filled in,but overgrown badly!The far end,would have been open the sea.[attachment 41325 WinterIslandSalem044.jpg]Here's another angle of whats left of the moat..[attachment 41326 WinterIslandSalem047.jpg][attachment 41327 WinterIslandSalem050.jpg]It's really ashame,this is such a treasure,but the city does'nt seem to care!Can't understand,why they just cannot send a crew in to clear the growth!In Part 3,you'll see why its a island!
 
That looks like an interesting place to just wander with your camera. I like the stone work:thumbup:
