Here's an old postcard of the rest of the moat, before filled in.I'am [attachment 41328 Scanned Image-64.jpg]guessing it was filled, when the Coast Guard moved in.[attachment 41328 Scanned Image-64.jpg]This is a postcard of "Smiths Pool",largest Saltwater pool. This also fell to ruin, but in the late 40's.You will see its connection to Winter Island in the next photo.[attachment 41330 ScannedImage-65.jpg] Here's a beautiful air shot of Winter Island.See "Smiths Pool" on the upper left? You can also see the Base, with both wooden Seaplane ramps. The Lighthouse on lower right.[attachment 41331 ScannedImage-67.jpg]The rest of these photo's were loaned to me,by Barry Young.I mentioned in an earlier story,he is also employed,as a bodyman,at the Nissan Dlrship.Turns out his father, was stationed hear also, with mine! His Dad,was a pilot, and a Lifer,i might add,so now we'll see abit of flying apparatus![attachment 41332 ScannedImage-71.jpg] The Pilots! Pilot,Mr Young, second from right![attachment 41334 ScannedImage-79.jpg] Later photo of the flight crews?Taken in the hanger..[attachment 41338 ScannedImage-77.jpg]

RONNIE GREAT SHOT'S OF WINTER INLAND, AND BY THE WAY HAPPY THANKSGIVING,TO YOU AND THE FAMILY. YOUR RICH BROTHER AL.

it looks like it would be a great place to swing a water detector, around that "T" shaped dock on the left. Looks liek it had to be a swimming dock and if so, lots of goodies are to be had!!
