I think you'll enjoy water hunting - I sure have. I've had some success in fresh water, finding several rings including a 14k gold men's band with three diamonds. I would water hunt more often but there aren't too many places close by where I live in Utah. I tried the ATP in salt water for the first time last November and after getting past the learning curve did pretty well. HH
Why don't you try metal detecting on some toboggan hills? It gets you out, gets you some finds and you sleep good at night.
