Winter Hunting

Well haven't posted any finds for awhile cause of this nasty winter weather . Thought I would post a winter hunting story for you all . My hunting buddy came by the other day and said he found us a place to winter hunt so off we went . He took me to the old abandoned women Prison here in town . Across from the prison is a gravel parking lot where the employee's use to park while they were working .
They sold the parking lot to a construction company and there going to build houses on the whole block that they bought . They have been removing gravel from the parking lot and have it all graded up a lot of it is in piles and rows so we got permission to hunt there and can find coins in the rows and piles with out digging in the ground yet which is froze really hard . We got a lot of signals in the flat ground also but have to wait for spring thaw to dig for them . Wednesday we hunted it for a couple hours and I found 27 coins and my friend had about 20 .It was 39 degrees outside while we were hunting , a heat wave for here lately . He did find one interesting coin it was a 1987 Bermuda Quarter . Morel of the story is we now have a place to hunt this winter and get our detecting fix as long as the snow doesn't get to deep again.

Here's my friend John's Bermuda Quarter he found Wednesday .
I might add we looked this coin upon the internet and it says its Copper and coated with nickel . I did ring up as a nickel on his detector . He was hunting with a new whites coinmaster also .

I definitely don't envy you guys back there but I love the tenacity.Way to not let trivial things like hypothermia, frostbite and possible permanent death get in the way of the really important issue....getting out and hunting ! Seriously though, good job.

I had to laugh at Scott's comment. 27 coins is a good total for rock hard ground. My goodness, you did have a "heat wave". We've not seen that for a while. Thanks for the story and I'm surprised you got out in this cold. I know that SW MO has had a lot of hard weather. STAY WARM and HH, Nancy
