Winter Beach hunting with the Sovereign GT. When , where, and why?

Hello all,
I got my Sovereign GT a few months back and have not been out to much with it. So i have the itch to get out regardless of how cold it gets.
I was thinking or should I say wondering if there is any benefit to detecting the saltwater beaches in the winter? what method as far as when and where i should search for some gold jewelry. Do any of you enjoy detecting the beaches in the winter? any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jason

The benefits of hunting in the winter are still there, except of course all the hotties laying on the sand. As for targets, they are always washed in an out with the storms. Some of the roughest surf in during the winter and this strips away sand, makes undercuts, exposes rock, etc. Any time you can get out to hunt can be the best time.

I personally love the winter. Usually too much sand build up in summer and only recent drops will likely be found but these can often be really good ones. But I like the solitude of a deserted winter beach, especially when the sand is right and the finds keep you busy.

btw, I forgot to answer the "where" in your post. Closest beach for me is Folly Beach (6 miles), just south of Charleston but all of the Charleston area beaches are relatively close. Plenty of tourist beaches north and south of me that aren't more than an hour or so away.

I know, I know, not all of us can live in Florida. The GT is a good beach detector. Just be careful near the water or it be fried.

When- All winter Where- Deep South Texas. I like it during this time of year its slower than summer, although its warm enough to swim the waters a little chilly after awhile of swimming, so it puts more people into the lane and shallow stuff with the kids.
