If you take this site and read it all , take notes, be mindfull of what is being said, plan outings with notes from it - I guarantee you will have a renewed energy for detecting come spring time and see good results.

I know this sounds like a sales job but I have done this very thing before and it works. Plus what else are you going to do once the freeze takes over ? Put this link on your computer for later. Steve in so az

Over the last 2 months or so, I've been doing tons of searches on the internet and I'm sure I'm going to end up in the historical libraries this winter ( I've learned of a couple of places that carry old historical maps). I'm going to look into some unique ideas I have that could lead to sites where others might not have thought to look. I also know of someone (friend of my mother-in -law) who used to run a local historical society and will try to contact this person. I know of one old site that's privately owned and I'm going to try to get permission to hunt it in the spring. I've also got some connections for some sites in Queens in an area with a lot of history. One is an old courthouse (now owned by a non-profit group) from the 1800's; complete a jail in the celler. The other is an area that was used as a beach in the 1800's. We'll see... :)

Sounds like a plan Joe ! Historical libraries are great resources . I have had my best luck at places that are not mentioned in books - (ghost town travel ones & such). I have been doing a lot of research on some RR lines in New Mexico, have a lot of places no longer there and we are going there in Dec. Steve in so az
