A detecting buddy found this today. Does anyone know what the initials stand for and how old it is?

I think it is WWI US Signal Corps....possibly WWII but the last link in this post lists WWI signal corps WITH wings....
HERE is a pin that has SCSA and has the signal corps flags on it. This pin on Ebay is for sure signal corps but is also the only pin I can find with "SCSA on it as well. I guess the SC stands for Signal Corps but I'm not sure about the SA......States of America? States Army?

Yours does not have anything that really says SIGNAL CORPS except for the connection I saw with the signal corps pin with SCSA on it. But that is the only thing I can find that somewhat makes sense.
 
SCSA is "Southern California Soaring Academy"

It was used to train Glider pilots during the WW2 era . Hope this helps you...............John
