windy conditions, effecting sens and readings?

I was getting a lot of chatter the other day while the wind was blowing but I did not want to push the sens down anymore than it was (9). IF I picked up the loop I could even get chatter in the Air. Here is the thing though, when hunting the ground, though noisey, I was still getting targets from arround 8-10 inches. Sounds good but it is a real struggle to listen trough all the chatter that I feel was comming from the hot wind. I am sure I could of lowerd the sens more but I was unwilling to at this site as I was finding things pretty deep. When I lower sens to auto I am at 2 and fairly stable but not as deep.
Am I going crazy or do any of you notice the wind thing occasionally? At other times on the same general spot I can get up to 19 if wet. and calm.
What would you try doing to stabalize and keep depth. deep off fast off high trash difficult ground .

thanks for any reply,

I hunt with little of the chater problem MOSTLY but there are lots of other problems there to deal with as well. There are electical high power lines about one mile away but I dont think that would do it. It gets noisy like that hen the wind is blowing and hot. It is just an odd thing...I am still able to find targets but dealing with all the chatter gets to be hard on consentration.

Interesting thoughts - I'll be sure to check the next time I go out in real heavy wind - thanks for the post !

Do you have another coil to try? Perhaps the wire is partially broken and the wind is vibrating it????? Just a shot in the dark on this one...

I have hunted in the wind up to 35 mph with gusts higher than that and had no issues like you mention.I suspect it has to do with EMI in some way.I have noticed my cell phone signal at my house can change in strength a lot depending on what direction the wind is blowing????
