WILL TTF WORK

WILL TTF (TWO TONE FERROUS) WORK ON THE CTX LIKE IT DID ON THE ETRAC IN LOTS OF IRON!! JUST WONDERIN

There are quite a few threads on this topic. But to answer your question I will tell you that the CTX is not the E trac. The E Trac is terrible in the iron compared to the CTX. There are much better settings for the CTX instead of TTF for hunting iron. Check out combined mode. Get a 6 inch coil and set to long tones. You will be blown away by the results.

I am using what I called 2 tone ferrous on the CTX and it has better separation than the E-trac when using the Ferrous-Coin setting. The lower portion of my screen I have set the tone bin at 120 hz and the upper part is at 1200 hz. That way I can zone out and concentrate on overlapping my coil swings. When I get a high signal I look at the screen to determine whether or not it's a "digger." It has worked very well for me.

IMO, combined works much better than TTF, because you have 5 tones instead of two. You can set it up with the low tone for iron, and the other 4 tones for nickels, aluminum, pennys, and the last for silver. You can change the size and pitch of each of the tone "bins" to your liking. As others have described it, it is TTF on steroids. :detecting:

I just like less sound. One high tone to alert me to check a target further.

To each their own.....

I prefer Combined. I rarely look at the screen when I detect, and roughly 85% of the time I am correct on the item I am digging. Also depends on the site being detected.

Some people don't like all the noise or multi tones. Personally I hate looking at the screen every high tone. So I use combined. The CTX is a very versatile machine. It can be set up to suit anyone who wants to take the time to do it.

where did you set your dividing line

I also hunt ferrous coin combined I was just wondering if and what everyone else was using!!:cheekkiss:

I set my dividing line at 18 and you see what I dug this past weekend. Some targets showed 9" and 10" on the depth. They were definitely all of that.

How you set the audio features on the CTX has no impact on the depth of detection. The line you mention is only the point at which the alert tone changes. Moving it up or down will not change the signal reception of the CTX.

I know this. I was referring to digging definite good targets in TTF not due to where the tone line falls.

I'm actually making the statement to say, I didn't miss any of this stuff due to where the tone line was set.
