Will They Make A 10 to 12" 3khz Coil?

I'm considering purchase of either the X-terra or ETrac in the near future as either one seems to be among the deepest for coin shooting on the market. What particularly interests me about the X-Terra is it's ability to run at 3khz for sensitivity and depth on silver and copper coins, which is primarily my hunting style. I'm reading good things about it's depth on these targets using the 9" 3khz coil but it appears the ETrac has a good 2" or so depth advantage on these targets, which I'd primarily consider more due to it's larger coil more than anything else. I'm willing to bet the X-Terra could achieve comparible depths on silver/copper targets provided it was using a coil in the 11 or 12" size range running at 3khz. I'd prefer a concentric as they do go slightly deeper than DD designs so long as the soil isn't highly mineralized, where in a double D will cancel the ground minerals better and achieve better depth. Since most of the soil I hunt isn't high mineralization, I prefer the easier pinpointing of a concentric, and I believe concentrics are not as prone to target masking, I'd opt for the concentric if I had the chance.

Anyway, has anybody heard any rumors of anybody coming out with a concentric or double D in say the 11 to 12" or so size range to max out the depth of this detector on coins?

This was discussed several weeks ago. Minelab advised that they were not going to make a larger 3kHz coil at that time. We even went so far as to send a petition, of sorts, to Minlab and their response was the same. TomB

Hey hey, if you look at the manual in the section on coil id on the detector. I see it says it can id a LF DD coil, would guess it will be a 10.5.

You would think they would licence the technology, so that sombody could make a compatible coil. Would probably want a bunch for it though, then it just be to intricate to Mfg. competetivily on the aftermarket.

Just a thought
