Will the 705 really find Gold?

Greetings from Australia.

Back in the 90's, I had a Bounty Hunter Red Baron, which I believe, was ahead of its time feature wise. Sadly, it is long gone.

Now, as a retired 'Grey Nomad', pulling a caravan around Australia, I have a renewed interest in Prospecting. The Red Baron was great for coin hunting on the beach with the kids, but I'm now more interested in looking for the yellow stuff in the many goldfields we encounter on our trips, especially in Western Australia.

I've starting looking around for another detector that's within my budget, but still with the ability to detect gold. For the small amount of work I'll give it, I could not justify spending thousands on a biggie.

I've looked at a few different ones, but keep coming back to the X-Terra 705 Gold Pack model.

Does anyone have any experience with this machine, in terms of its gold detecting ability? Or am I dreaming?

It has no trouble detecting gold ......... as for being able to ground balance on our gold fields, that is the question ........... mine have trouble in many places especially in WA, Vic and Qld.

Thanks for the feedback guys. After further research, I've gone ahead and bought a Minelab Eureka.
The reviews seem to put it ahead of the 705 and the 3 selectable frequencies makes it appealing.
Will be mainly detecting in Qld and WA.
Wish me luck! :)
