will not power off

I just opened my discovery 3300 that i ordered from Cabellas

Put battery in and in turns on ok. However, when I try to turn off it just changes a few viwes on screen and does not turn off. I have to pull battery out to power down

Am I doing it wrong.
 
Try holding the power button for like 10 seconds...If this does not work, you have a faulty switch or something...

I also just purchased a discovery 3300 two days ago. Works great!!!!!!!! I'm new to metal detecting and enjoyed using it on my first hunt. Have alot to learn.. My detector switches on and off with no problems. Must be a bad switch. Good luck. Frankes
