Will new GTAX series coils work on my GTAX 1000

No, the 1000 is a GTA, not a GTAx. Different connectors.

Is it still a GTA even if the sticker on it is GTAx. Im just going by whats on the detector.

No, the connectors are different and they might even have different operating frequencies. You might want to see if Kellyco has any of the 5 1/2" Hothead Ferrett coils for the 1000 still. I've got one and it's a pretty sweet coil on the 1000. It works on either the Ultra or PowerMaster.
