If they are soo difficult to fix.. minelab should get rid of that tube technology They should go back to a box ,I dont mind having one tied around my neck

Yea but you can get parts for a 13 year old car. Even after market companies make many parts for an older car and not just the auto maker. A 13 year old detector should have all the parts available for it IMO.

That letter from Minelab is like the weather man telling you you have a 50/50 chance for rain or sunshine today. What good is that? How about a general run down of what parts on what machines are no longer available to give people an idea of what they probably can get fixed. Seems the market is ripe for a third party to start doing repairs on these machines. I caught a blurb somewhere on here about somebody even building an injection molder so they could make end caps for the Excal.

What also blows my mind is that blurb elsewhere about Minelab not letting techs or x-techs go on the forums. What is this, Iran? Think of all the good performance info they could pass along to users of their products. If I owned a detector company I'd want all my employes surfing the net and offering help/insight to the users out there. I'd even make it part of their job requirement. Since when is keeping a lid on solid information about the product you make a good thing? Makes no sense to me, but then mounting a meter on the GT where you can't see it and having no remote PP switch also seems link a total lack of common sense as well. That would be like Ford making Mustang GTs and then putting tires on them that shouldn't be used past 55 miles an hour, or selling the cars only in pink. Minelab has done the same thing with the Sovereign. They made a spectacular machine in every other respect but just had to put two bone headed design flaws into the hardware.
I agree with you,why would they not want to let tech's talk on the forums or help the guys and gals who spend thousands, yes thousands on there machines?I have the one answer for you GREEEED! it is the only answer.and it is ashame,or should I say they should be ashamed?I work for the same type of co.greed is number one.GOOD LUCK AND MERRY CHRISTMAS

I have an old Explorer XS that quit last year. Sent it in to them with instruction to email me. They emailed me the next week, it was a cracked ribbon cable. I was waiting for the billing invoice to send payment when 4 days later I had my explorer back with new display, and replaced(not repaired} circuit board. I was not charged anything and the invoice stated no charge because of warranty.
I've sent my Excalibur 1000 in (had a cable problem) they fixed it in 10 days and sent it back, my cost was $72.

I haven't had any problems with Minelab repairs or their support staff. I use Minelab because they do what they are designed to do and do it well. Minelab has stood by their product and by me and I will continue finding the good stuff because of their machines.

When another company designs a machine that can give the versatility, reliability and longevity of Minelab's products then I'll detect with that brand, however I don't see that happening in the near or far future.

Happy Hunting.......................................Randy

The only problem that I have with my Exclibur is the Black end caps swivel. I tried silicone caulk but it came undone. Anyhelp--Thanks
