Will Minelab ever bring back the Sovereign?

I still can't believe they discontinued the best machine they ever made. Is there any talk of another BBS machine other than the Excaliber? They were so successful and have a CULT following why why why get rid of them? Please tell me theres going to be something similar. Minelab must be losing $$$ on those Go-Find models so make us a new Sovereign give the people what they want!!! and make some $$$$ instead.

I have always been under the impression the electronics were the same in Excaliber and Sov ....... Maybe Ron from Michigan will jump in here and give the right answer to my assumption..

the notion that the Excal is only/simply a Sov in a water-proof package, is the supposed notion. But even though the sounds/feel is the same, I had always wondered about this. Because I noticed that guys with the Sov./Wot combo always got more depth on coin-sized targets. Whereas anyone who ever tried to hard-wire (or use the pain-in-the-b#tt couplers) for the Excal to fit the WOT, would only get increased covereage. NOT increased depth.. Makes me wonder if there wasn't some difference. Hmmm......

When the Explorers came out many switched to them and the sales of the Sovereigns went down, then when the E-Trac came out they were too busy making them to think about the Sovereigns. Now with the CTX 3030 which is built on the same idea of the E-Trac I expect the Excalibur's will be the next to go as Minelab will be working on a better waterproof CTX 3030 to replace the Excalibur. This is my opinion on it and would love to see a new Sovereign come out as they were one of the better detectors that ever came out and I sure got me some nice finds out of old parks others gave up on.

I doubt that Minelab will bring back any version of the Sovereign. Sales fell too low for them to continue production. Far too many folks are always looking for the latest and greatest(?) in machines and the old tried and true machines lose sales. My GT has done an amazing job for me and still continues to produce in places that I have been told are completely worked out.

The gt is certainly a well desired unit.. they dont last but 1 or 2 days on the classified forum when they come up for sale and there always seems to be someone looking for one... i have both gt and excal.. they are brothers but not twins...gt is more versatile with several more settings such as iron mask, notch, ground balance in all metal, tracking, ect...

So instead of coming up with a new Sovereign or BBS land machine they waste money on the Go Find line which is a market thats flooded! too many cheap machines out there already. I bet if they released a machine based on the sovereign line right now they would see huge sales!
