will fisher ever produce a 5 inch coil for the C$ ????

the only thing holding me back committing to a coinstrike is the lack of a small coil for hunting in trash..unlike my other fishers, which are assigned beach duty,i would like to get a c$ for my main land hunting machine, looks like fisher is more committed to the edge(which i may get and skip the strike altogether),as that already has a 5 inch planned,so it doesnt bode well for the c$ i suppose, especially seeing how fast the cz's were dropped :(

so we have to learn about them the hard way.

What if I told you the Edge and Excel need a 5" coil to do what the CS can with an 8"?

Always in such a hurry to crank up that sensitivity with no thought to detection field shape....and with a fine tuner supplied to help....

Also, give some thought to Tony's post on his hunt at the DIV.

Not going to say more just yet, but don't be dismissing the CoinStrike just because it doesn't have a 5" coil.

Happy CoinStriking :detecting:

I can do things in trash after MUCH practice w. the 8" coil on the C$ that most other units can't duplicate with their 5".....
But I feel a small coil on my C$ may open up even more possibilites or at least make the job easier in thick iron....

I'd love to have one, but since it seems no one is going to supply it, might as well avoid the sour grapes thing and focus on how well it works with just the standard 8". Low sens (1-3), averaging on, threshold at +3 or below 25, track engaged, notched to preference....you can hunt modern trash.

Sun Ray is seriously looking at a 5.5" for the C$....That sounds VERY cool. Let's hope it comes along, but I also hope that C$ owners will buy them because it took alotta effort to do SunRay Fisher items, & I don't think Excel probes for example were flying off the shelves....

and bought a new SR probe for my Excel. I was out with it the other day and checking the deepies that a friend was getting with the Explorer II. These were all 9"" or more and the Excel was hearing them all with a diggable ID. Also, the probe performance was even better than the SR on the Explorer. It's still unbeatable in it's price range as far as I'm concerned and definitely is worthy of the extra bucks for a probe. And the Edge and C$ are just better yet.

i mean, heck! im still dumfounded why they would drop every cz for starters,if they were to release a cz in an edge or excel package factor,i could totally understand. from my experience with the cz 5 and now with my cz 70 pro(which is now my fav machine),they hold their own with any machine currently available and will do so until the next gen of machines that come out that can tell the difference between trash and a gold ring :)...fishers r and d is obviously top notch, but their continuing support for their products has to be questioned..i mean, the c$ got a 10.5 coil,if they can build a bigger coil, obviously they can build a smaller one:),but have chosen not to(at this point) even tho users are screaming for a smaller coil..they release the edge,it almost immediately has 2 extra coils released/announced for it,yet they cant support their flagship machine? do their marketing gurus think that the edge is the way of the futre? that the c$ has had its day in the sun? that anyone who has ever used and loved a cz dont want a new and improved(and lighter) model? ...despite their questionable marketing tactics, fisher still rule in my book tho...

Don't take this the wrong way (& I'll probably come off as the paid shill here). But, I just want to make a couple points. There still is a CZ in their line, the 3D. I agree the CZ-70 is awesome & I use mine alot too. Just because it's no longer in the new catalog it's never going to vanish. IN fact, some dealers still have them new in box in their stock. I understand the parts from overseas became too expensive, & also the CZ was a 20 year old design of enginners that no longer work there (though I agree a 20 yr old CZ can outhunt most newer units). Fisher has a new engineer, & they are going in a new direction with 3 new "faster" digital units.....
Saying if Fisher made a big coil for the C$ they can do a small one is FAR easier said than done from what I understand. There are electronics in the coils, & I hear it's VERY hard to wind everything into the far smaller 5" housing. All that extra hard labor & then if very few sell they lose money. It's common knowlege in the hobby that big coils sell far better than small ones (another reason why you saw 10.5" for the Edge & C$). After much prodding, FRL is working on winding a 5" for the Edge. You say there's been screaming for small coils, but it's usually the same 3 folks online doing all the asking (& detectorists online is a very small % of folks in the hobby)...Therefore, I sure hope more than 3 small Edge coils sell because I asked many times for 1 myself. It's tough to please everyone, & I can already see C$ users are gonna be saying 'Hey! where's our 5"!?? As I said yesterday, SunRay should be taking care of a 5.5" C$ coil.....then all the bases should be covered....hopefully. :twodetecting:

but i tell ya,if fisher could release an updated cz in an edge form factor,it would be a masterstroke :)... maybe ive become too much of a fisher fanboy, but its something i just cant describe,i suppose, but the cz (both analog and digital) just seem in a class by them selves in certain areas,ie the way they 'hit' on targets etc..ive got an excel and altho its great(espececially for its iron handling, now if only the cz's had that ability),i still find myself reaching for my cz's more than anything else..
