Will doing a reset get rid of the updates too?

If you do a reset and highlight re-set all then yes the reset will go back to factory default. You do have options on what you want to reset. If you want to reset a mode you have created go to page 33 of the manual. A complete reset explanation is on page 50. If you do not have a copy of the manual Randy has posted a site with the manual and other information at the top of this forum. HH :minelab:

Maybe I wasn't clear. I am talking about the firmware updates from minelab that you get through the exchange software not any updates you make to the mode files.

There are 3 types of resets......GeoStore, Settings and All

Reset GeoStore clears the contents from the GeoStore meaning all FindPoints, WayPoints and GeoHunts will be deleted. User settings and Search Modes will not be affected. Updates will be retained in the CTX 3030.
When the GeoStore has been cleared a confirmation message will be displayed.

Reset Settings clears all user settings and deletes the user Search Modes. Information in the GeoStore (FindPoints, WayPoints, GeoHunts) will not be affected. Search Modes will be reinstated to factory preset levels. Updates will be retained in the CTX 3030.
When Reset Settings has been completed the detector will reboot. When start-up is complete the detector will prompt you to select your language before displaying the Detect screen.

Reset All is a combination of both Reset GeoStore and Reset Settings. Reset ALL will return all settings to their factory preset levels, deletes Search Modes and empties the GeoStore. Updates will be retained in the CTX 3030.
When Reset All has been completed the detector will reboot. When start-up is complete the detector will prompt you to select your language before displaying the Detect screen.

Bill, I do not think that the "Master Reset" will return the unit to the old version of software. It will only reset all modes and personal settings to the factory default. I have not updated mine as I am not having any problems to make me want to. If I do, I will check the version and then do a Full reset and see if it goes back to the old version.

I do wonder if you have stored data in the GPS, if you will loose the info?

The update sticks..I tried it a couple days ago just to find out... It will be interesting to try to manually undo a update once we get the next one loaded.. I made me a file to keep all the updates in with details of what it was for so I can revert back if it will let me & feel I need to.. wildherre

I was just wondering what will happen if one of the updates goes bad. It may not be good if there is no way to revert back to an earlier one.
