Will a rope protect you from a Rattlesnake? .............

I have heard about this my entire life, but have never been in a position to test it. Folks claim that you can put a rope around your bed roll, or sleeping bag if you are city folks, and a Rattlesnake will not cross over that rope. It is my understanding that this will only work on a Rattlesnake and that other snakes will indeed cross over the rope. Many years ago, a friend of mine, Marvin Barnes over in Bandera, Texas, claimed that he tested this theory and it was true. He said that he put a Rattlesnake inside of a rope circle and left it there all night. The next morning he said that the Rattlesnake was still inside the circle. To this day, I have often wondered if he was telling me the truth or trying to pull the wool over my eyes. Do any of you folks know anything about this subject? Kelley (Texas) :)

but I would not trust it. Better than nothing I guess. It might have worked for your friend but I keep thinking that just maybe the snake just didn't feel like traveling that night.

You have lots of snakes down in that area. I am sure you can get your hands on a rope. Why don't you test it out and let us know. Take a video of it:thumbup:

I do not think I would rely on this being true, but I have always been curious about it. If it is true, I wonder what would cause the Rattlesnake not to cross over the rope? Kelley (Texas) :)
