Will a 950 coil from a VX3 match up 100% for the V3i ???

Is it V rated I think it is called ????????????? ( 950)

Yep, it sure will. The VX3 and the V3i are the same detector but the VX3 has a simpler user interface.

YES.............. it is working well....I like 950 loops so am going to trade the D2 for one. I have a 6x10 DD so that would be the 10" I use most anyway..

Simpler but not near as versatile as the V3i, the V3i is the way to go.

Personally, I would not trade a D2 to get a 950, and elect to keep a 6x10 as a primary coil in place of the D2. The 6x10 just doesn't cut it IMO once you get past 6-7 inches. Mine never has anyway.

If the coil is run in mild enough dirt the 950 would equal the depth of the D2. I personally no longer own a 950 because I don't go to the beach. Concentrics are the way to go at the beach with a V3i.

The D2 coil will cut through the mineralization better due to the knife edge footprint and separation will also be better where you have adjacent targets. The best thing about DD coils is better coverage deeper in the ground so you don't have to overlap near as much.

On the down side, a DD coil loves the screw caps and reads them as a quarter, but that is not a problem with the V3i because the dominant frequency will almost always be 7.5 instead of 2.5 for a quarter.
