Will a 6000/D locate gold?

rpowers

New member
Hello,

I just purchased my first metal detector, a used 6000/D. What years were they sold by White's and can it be used to locate gold? Also, how does it compare to the newer versions.

Thank you,

Richard

Richard, the 6000D was made from 1979 to about 1982 or so! This was an early version of the motion circuit, so one needs to whip the coil in order for it to work properly. This is when using the GEB discr. mode! On the newer versions this is not necessary, one can slow down and search at a normal pace! Also no whipping is needed when using the TR Dicr. mode! Finding Gold? Did you mean Gold Rings? or Gold Nuggets? Small gold nuggets should be found using the GEB mode! Gold rings are detectable using any of the modes especially the GEB discr. and TR discr. mode!.................HH..............Joe
