Starting today i told wifey don't talk to me ask me anything cold turkey is a tuff thing to do but i WILL and watch my diet .:rage: OK nuff of my problem,s HAPPY TURKEY DAY TO ALL AND GOOD HUNTING .Jim.......... next season you wont be able to drag me off the farm fields or beachs lol . :detecting:

wish you all the best dd 60... that nicotine aint no joke..very tough habit to kick but I got faith in you... I never really smoked myself but I watched my mother in law smoke herself to death ..she was able to eventually quit but she really suffered ..I will never forget the last night she was alive laying in her bed in the hospice and out of the blue she said I wonder if they wouldn't mind wheeling me outside for one last smoke.... enough of the doom and gloom... that's some fine equipment you got there... I find metaldetecting to be a rather healthy habit and think of all the extra equipment you will be able to afford next year from the money you save on not buying smokes.... happy holidays to you and yours and a prosperous new year...

Jim,nice job organizing your equipment. One day at a time, you sound determined,my wife is a smoker and has successes and failures.Good Luck Ron

Nice equipment... I smoked for forty years and one day the doctor said you have to quit or you will regret not doing so. I had tried several times to quit and was always unsuccessful. One day a friend gave me a business card for a Hypnotist who specialized in smokers. Another person and I made an appointment and filled the car with smoke on the way to the office. Then when we went inside we had to dump all of our cigarettes. A couple of hours later, we both walked out of there as non smokers. I've never had a desire since to smoke, however I still love the smell of cigarettes. I can smell them 1/2 a block away. I just don't smoke anymore... Good luck.

I'd say your equipment is at the bare minimum! Keep looking. A former boss of mine had smoked Camel cigarettes for 30 years. Constantly had a cig. in his mouth. Started getting short of breath, went to the doctor. Doc said he had to stop smoking. After that day...I never saw him smoke in 15 years. You can do it too!

Nice arsenal of hunting equipment, And your a Pirate, you can do it!

Jim,

Put that six bucks a day (cost for a pack) in a coffee can and next spring you can hire somebody to dig for you. All you have to do is detect and say "dig here".

Good Luck and handle it one attack at a time.

Sounds like good advice from everyone 1 day at a time Thanks Jim

Jim I smoked Camel non filters for between 25 and 30 years. It reached the point that it was either smoke or breathe. I opted to breath. I have been lucky and have not gotten lung cancer. I gave them up in 87 and it is tuff but it can be done. A little over two years ago I finally decided to start watching my diet. Since then I have lost 120 pounds and this old man feel great. I wear out after 6 to 8 hours of detecting but at almost 73 I will settle for that. Good luck on giving up that nasty foul habit and regaining your health.

I'm with Mud. Really sad. Our health is our number one treasure and the key to enjoying life. I've quit tobacco a few times in my life and even after stretches of up to a dozen years went back to it. Never again, been free of it for 6+ years after a 3 year return prior. Watching my weight and exercising is easy for me, tobacco was the toughest. I read this post when he put it up and almost put a reply - was thinking of something kinda smart alecky cause we never have enough MD stuff.
RIP Jim.

Yes it can come so soon and unexpected and many like me figures it is always someone else and it cant happen to me. I know I have to quit smoking too and watch my health more as I already had 2 heart attacks and a triple bypass, yet I still smoke, so maybe this will be a wake up call and I will think very hard on quiting before it is too late.
It is tough to see a fellow treasure hunter from these forums pass on as they are all like family to many of us. Our Prayers goes out to his family.
