Wife okays new detector purchase which one???

Ok so my wife says I can buy a new detector.l have narrowed my choices to the following
1) classic t2
2) atpro
3) racer
These are, in my opinion very capable and price point is about the same. So lets hear what you would pick from this list , and why!

I think some input from yourself first regarding the type of detecting that you will be doing then i would think you would get some more specific input rather than a general open ended question, what i mean by this is will you be doing say parks or tots lots as you folks call them,or possible some other location like on open farm land.

I hunt middle Tennessee Nashville area, mostly old home sites and fields Carpeted with iron, soil here changes from loamy dark, to menacing red clay.I run a new land ranger pro with 11" DD, but have owned an f70, whites eagle spectrum, and a Delta 4000, and lots of mufflers on a stick. I want separation in-between the iron. I dig everything above iron.

I reckon you will go for a classic t2 in the end

For old home sites, old lots full of iron, and farm fields, I'd go with the Racer of the three. I've had the AT Pro, and the Racer. Haven't had the T2.

No doubt classic t2 while the opportunity is there.
There one heck of a machine.

Knowing what you are primarily hunting is a must. If CW hunting I'd still recommend a DMC-2B.
And don't be so quick to close down the aperture on what you think might be suitable-lots of new detectors out all the time.
Plus the way people are, buying used might get you two at good prices-difficult for one to act as a really good be-all;
usually you just get a better compromise, not a best.
It seems too you are shooting for mid priced detectors-a higher end unit with more features might mean you go longer before
your next purchase too.

Monte is sold on the racer with the T2 a close second. I trust his advice and he thoroughly tests each model

If you didn't want something with a screen and tones (I'm the same way) I'd say take a look at the Vaquero. There is a youtube link posted on the Tesoro forum that as the Vaquero going up against the Fisher F19, At Pro, and Nokata Fors Core in the guys test garden. He tests for depth, separation, and picking out the coin with nails in the hole.

@ digginLa,he went with the T2 Classic in the end

Racer, all the way. A bit better than the other two, and very deep on coins and buttons

Any reason the E Trac or Fisher F75 is not in the running? I own the AT Pro, Makro Racer, F75 and E trac. I find the E Trac an easy machine to use and kills it on the deep silver. The F 75 makes you do a little more thinking but I have gotten better depth with it than the E trac. The Racer is a good unit in iron like everyone says but unless you plan on spending all your time in iron infested sites it is no better than the AT pro.
