wife is giving me a choice for our aniversary present; its between an x-5 or x-12. can you all give me your opions? *N/T*</

If looking for coins (deep) over larger area's
and light trash go for the X-12.
Hunting in small trashy area's use a X-5.

I can't imagine needing anything smaller. The X-8 will give great separation almost anywhere. Decent depth too.

I have never really found a use for anything smaller than the X-8.

I've been using the 18 inch and like it alot. There is a 12 & 14 inch available also from Kellyco. Its a quality made coil and it pinpoints great and its waterproof. The 18 is also very stable. I have the Sunray 8 inch and can't say I've been impressed by it. It does pinpoint better then the stock coil but for me personally it has not proved to serve a purpose.

Hi Larry,
Sounds like you are doing OK with that big coil you have. The area you are in must not be real trashy. I have the 12 inch Sunray coil and have been borrowing it out so I havent used it too much, but that 8 inch Sunray is the one I like and recomend this one to anyone learning the Explorer as it is so much easier to use. I found I learned more about the Explorer with this coil as I can seperate the target beter in my old park i work which we all know can be tough with all the junk.
I feel each coil has its purpose and feel the 8 inch is the one I use the most for my old parks because of the trash, but from what I have used the 12 inch Sunray it is better than the stock coil for weight, coverage and very stable in some of the trashy areas.
Larry keep on finding those great finds with your 18 inch coil.
Rick
