wierd problem? and another prayer request

Hey I have a Bounty hunter Target ID 505 and ive used it for a couple of months now.
I have found many items no problems, but the needle at the top has never moved much.
Some times it moves very little when it finds something but other than that nothing.
Can someone help solve this problem?
