WI DNR Metal Detecting rules--What (Who is) next

Dave-WI

New member
Thought I would post the revised Wisconsin DNR rules, The DNR in Wisconsin controls all navigable water ways ,State Parks, and Public hunting grounds. just to give an idea of how big of a threat this is to metal detecting Here is the link http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/parks/other/metaldetect.html

Letter to Mark.

Dear Mr. Mark Dudzik,

It is a shame respectable gentlemen can not pursue their
hobby on DNR land.

People are allowed to do all kinds of destructive things on
DNR land. But to prohibit metal detecting, is to ban people
who are an asset to the DNR and it's visitors.

Lots of these guys left their buddies and the best part of
their lives on foreign soil protecting your best interest.

Most detectorist are very responsible.

You are certainly not acting in the best interest of the DNR.

So, do you have something against a bunch of retired old
gentlemen enhancing the security of the park?

Do you have something against people trying to help keep
the park clean and safe for visitors?

In short, why do you not act in the DNR's best interest?

I am very disappointed in your policies.

Respectfully Submitted,

Tabdog

After all, the people making these rules up are paid from entrance and camping fees to the state parks - hunting and fishing license - and state tax moneys. I beleive we should have some say as to how the DNR lands and water ways are used, not just shut out completely.

looks like if while for the lost items you dig a really old historical item you are required to rebury it so no one can see it or learn anything from it. doesn't make sense.

Dave, I am a WI resident and was just as angry as you are. I sent my state legislator a letter about the problem and got a very positive response.
