Why you dig jumpy VID numbers.....;o)

Nice video Bill. Cool coin you found there! I've Nicked some nice ones too. If I'm at the park I dig tight holes, but if I'm in a field I go wider cause I can.

What tone did you have your iron at? I ask because I saw some red but didn't hear the iron and I find VDI's often jump more in iron.

Iron is interesting in that the form of it can drastically change the VDI of a coin. Pieces of iron will drop the VDI but smaller flakes can raise the VDI a lot. Case in point my garden. A Nickel at 9" will VDI most often from the 50's to 90's! It jumps all over the place and rarely do I see the actual Nickel VDI.

I will have to check on the iron tone. I dont remember if I had it set to 0 or not but I had everything from 60 and down discriminated out and was running the 5 band 7.5 frequency. The coin actually hit in the zinc penny range when out of the hole.

Lol.......I thought you would like that....Your day is coming. If nothing else you can come up here and dig a few. May be hard to come by but there are still some to be had.

Nice find on the half dime.:twodetecting::whites::cheers:

Exceptional hunting Bill.

Tip for the day:

You will find out from experience that rubbing a silver coin will leave scratches that does no damage on bullion coins, but on a rare or valuable coin, it quickly cuts the value of the coin to less than half. I like to carry a 35mm film canister with soapy water in it to put the coins in, or just leave them alone until I get back home to wash them.

Sure seems like you do well Bill.... Your really getting that V3i to produce for you fine sir.

Congrat's on the round and the half dime. Thanks for sharing your video's, giving me some hope. Been working mostly with my Excal in the water when I can and some on land. Finally got the V3i out last night and regret not working with it more this summer. Learning a great deal from your vid's. Thanks again.
