Why wont Whites listen?

I've had my MXT for 7 years. Finally had electrical problems and sent it back to Whites. In the meantime, I began looking around and purchased an AT Gold. I really like it, but there's a few features I prefer on the MXT.

I recently got my MXT back and it works like new, but the more I play with "newer" technology such as the AT Gold, the more I wonder why doesn't Whites REALLY improve on their best selling machine to compete with others like the AT or the 705?

I mean, the MXT Pro is cool and all, but it's eons behind in technology to an AT! Why can an AT be so powerful but only need 4 batteries compared to 8?

If White's made a light weight, waterproof MXT, it would be the BOMB! Wouldn't it make sense to really upgrade their machines to complete with newer technology machines?

You can buy a more expensive detector from Whites but if you add features that are missing from the MXT it will cost more. The fact that it has most of the features desired by 3 popular detecting styles makes it versatile and a common favorite. There are 21 models(not counting wands) listed on their WEBSITE and that doesn't even include the MXT. It does list the MXT All Pro, however.

PS: I decided to read about the AT PRO, about $550, and it seems to have all the important features of the MXT Pro and more. Someone rush over to comfort me and remind me why the MXT Pro is nearly twice as much as the AT PRO and I can't take mine in the WATER! :argue:
The AT GOLD is about $680 from KellyCo. ....What gives? Is it just the idea that Whites is...better, hence the higher price? I have never used anything but Whites, starting with the early 80's blue box upto the MXT Pro. Thinking about it now, the early 80's detectors were about $1000 as well for the good ones.

i am scared if i use an At Pro, i might want to climb a tree and hang upside down screaming over a wheat penny that a bank robber may have dropped......:crylol::lmfao:

seriously-- people tend to be brand oriented and will have a following no matter what, as i have Tesoros and a defunct Compass that is a favorite if mine, and another on the way.

the economy is tough now. the AT pro is a great machine. so is the MXT line and time proven. so is the Tejon, the E-trac and on and on. its nice there are different machines and we have choices. in a competitive market though it will be winner take all......and so many have tanked already.

like the highlander said-----in the end there can be only one---MAY IT BE WHITES! lololololol! :starwars:

I Was partial to Whites forever and still am. Not sure why. Maybe it's because it's the first machine I learned on? Who knows.

Am I wrong or what? If the MXT was waterproof, EVERYONE would be buying one!

Number one reason why I have a Whites is because of their quality control and they stand behind their machines. You can't beat a product that's made in the U.S.A. and also Whites reputation.

this is from another post i made.

i can tell you a little story about whites that you might know. a guy in hawaii bought up i guess at least 100 whites xlt machines from an auction. they had been used by a gov. contractor to look for spend ordinance at practice bombing sites on some islands. well i bought one and the search coil which was solid was almost worn through. the rod and box were corroded and the box was falling off the rod. everything was just hanging on. it had red dirt inside. that machine worked absolutely perfectly. after that i knew whites made some tough machines.

I had an AT Pro. Couldn't stand the micro sized screen and toy like construction. Sold it shortly after. Once you've had White's quality, it's hard to appreciate any other detectors. I have many different brands of detectors (see my Signiture) but they don't compare to White's quality either. I did always like the square shaped arm cuffs on Garretts, as they fit my square arm so well (What's with that?).

An MXT Pro Lists for $899.95. That's only about $200 away from "almost twice the price of an AT Pro" at $550, and we all know you can get the MXT Pro for a lot less if you shop around.

You are dreaming, wake up. It's older, but there is nothing outdated about its technology.

I had an AT Pro for very short time and sold it. I'm not saying it is not a good detector but it sure felt so cheap.

I have an E-trac,CZ-3D, and an old Whites 6000/xl-pro. The others are deeper and better in trash,But that old XL-PRO is just plain fun to use! And it is balanced perfect and built like a tank and a Quarter monster!

I have a MXT pro / AT pro/ and CTX 3030 thay all have ther Owen little disavantegs from one to another but I like them all I have found great things with all three. I have yet to find any Gold with the CTX I just need to dig all the repeatable signals

Mx5 ... Talked with whites today and from my understanding the mx5 is like an all digital mxt pro. In a lighter housing. Im gonna buy one this week and run it through some tests.

I don't think the MX5 is par with the MXT. At least not in price. I would expect MXT to come out with a notching feature, full digital and water proof.

Well the mx5 has notch descrimination it fully digital and its more water resistant the mxt. Mud gets on and around my knobs i
On mxt. The mx5 only has touch pad. Should wile right off. Im gonna go buy one today and see just how it compares. Im thinking this design may replace mxt design with whites moving to full digital. Or it could just replace the m6?? Who knows.

:cool:I used to use Whites machines only. That was back in the early 1990's when (in my opinion) Whites were producing their best machines to date. The introduction of the Spectrum XLT and the Classic Series was really exciting. As the years passed many models began to be "discontinued". I didn't like the "Prism" series when they first came out and they really were not any better than the Classics. The classic IDX Pro is still a cult favorite among veteran detectorists. Recently they discontinued the DFX also. I don't like any of the present offerings by Whites. The "V" series detectors are heavy with a lot of unnecessary features. It takes them a long time to introduce a new machine and when they do it's just a remake of an older model with a few added features. But I am not just picking on Whites. The whole industry is not what it used to be 20 years ago. Things have changed a lot. For example Tesoro no longer fixes used units for free (unless you really are the original owner). Garrett's AT Pro craze will one day come to an end. Fisher is no longer the Fisher we knew from Los Banos, CA. Bounty Hunter and Tek are basically the same as they have always been and I don't consider Minelab to be an American company and their machines don't appeal to me. So it's not just Whites who can't get a clue. It's everyone !!!!!
