I was talking to a guy today that seen me at a gas station and I had my detector out trying to lay it in the floor board in the back of my truck better when he walked up to me and struck a conversation and we talked about the Explorer.
Now he doesn't have an Explorer and doesn't detect but I was telling him about this Explorer and the things I have been going thru with it,we got onto the battery reset issue and he said that at the plant the equipment they use is sosensitive to electrical interference and now let me be the first to say he went way above my head but in a nut shell he said like your PC you go to lots of web sight load stuff in etc it starts to run different and by testing it inside he thought since it was so sensitive that it could be reading alot of electrical interference and doing something to the processor and its memory if it has one I told him I am not sure if it does, but it must it saves patterns etc.
So now someone might beable to take this a step further and shed light on this subject.I know I am not going to do anymore inside the house adjusting to this thing, sounds like common sense to me now.I guess we'll see what happens.

I can go to a site that has them above and do ok but when I go to another site that is clear from them I have to almost always do the battery reset to get the depth I want.
thanks for the eye opener

A high voltage line that was maybe 15 feet over head going into a old building at an oldfair ground.I bet more then anything this is what upset my unit for I couldnot get it to run under the power line no matter how many times I hit the noise cancelle button. So I left and contiinued to hunt but have notice that my unit didn't seem to run right in days to follow but to many variables to figure out why till now so thats to things I am going to start doing, reset my processer about once a week to just make sure I am up to par.

turn on the explorer and pull the battery as it is going through the boot up tones wait a minute or two then replace the battery turn back on and start havinf fun

and I have had it since Nov 7th 2000. Only have held the power button in and reset it to factory defaults twice and both times was because I am an idiot. <IMG SRC="/forums/images/biggrin.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":D">
Anyway, I just found some 9-10" wheats the other day with plenty good signals. I posted pictures of the probe in the holes below ground level.
I think I am going to start a new post about some stuff.
