[size=large]I have had people PM me and ask how to determine
what a single tone machine was tellin them. How to
interpret tha tones.

How do I hear tha tones telling me stuff?

Tabdog,
The point about it takes time to learn to hear what the detector is telling you is certainly true. Took me nearly two years to start hearing anything but BEEEP from the Cibola. Once I learned that she whispers, sighs, barks, chirps, quacks and beeps too, I started doing much better finding good stuff to take home. Learning to hear some of what the Cibola had been trying to tell me translated well to the other detectors I have picked up too.
Keep the faith going!

- - You are indeed a special case. Years of experience listening and hours of use.

Thanks for the story - it wasn't boring at all. Fascinating, really. What a cool, unsung field of work.

Hey Tabdog I enjoyed your story. Just keep on doing your thing and finding the good stuff. Good post, Beale.

I totally agree with you TDog. I have been swinging my D for 4 years now and this year was a break through year because I finally understood what it was telling me. There are many subtle differences in the tones on every target. And after you figure them out it is music to your ears. Happy New Year T hope next years digs are as good as this years.

Tab I beleive you , when i was in band class i was always amazed at how owr music teacher could pick out on isterment as the whole band was playing stop the whole thing and say wendy your clarenet is out of tune 1/2 turn and if yu played any not he could tell you what not you where playing c - c sharp b flat he could tell by the sound and he new if your insterment was out of tune its the same whith detecting you have developed your ear to some it seems far fetched but im hear to say it can be done im not thear yet but i beleive that you are now if you could just teach us all how to do it that would be real tabbbb
