why so many different Bounty Hunter detectors?

Lloyd H

I am wanting to buy a new detector that will rival the Garrett 550 or 1350. Bounty Hunter has about 20 different detectors under 5 different brands...which do I buy?? Do I get a Bounty Hunter,or a Technetics, or a Texan, etc etc... I want the best for about 400.00..how do all these compare with the Garrett's?? why is there sooo many? Please help Lloyd

 Lloyd, Just saw your question and here is my 2 cents. Bounty Hunter does things differently than any other detector company. They produce a lot of cheap grade machines that will find stuff (like modern clad coins and trash). If you want a Bounty Hunter that goes deep and finds the older stuff you will have to go with the top of the line machines that they make. I use a Ranger Pro ( which is like the Time Ranger). This company mass markets to a LOT of sales outlets instead of going through local dealers like Whites does. Thats why you see so many different machines with different names. My Ranger Pro is sold only through Bass Pro Shops. The Pioneer series is sold through WalMart. I don't like this but that's how they do it. My best advise to you is go to www.metaldetectorreviews.net and click on "bounty hunter" and read up on other people's experiences with the Bounty Hunter units. Best of Wishes, RedDirtFisher

thank you reddirt for your advice,i know that when you buy things at a walmart you might be getting the cheap of the cheap.Thats why I want a good solid name brand. Lloyd
