Why so high disc???

What is the purpose of a disc setting high enough that you can disc out a clad dime. I am kind of new to Tesoro's and I just tested that out on my Tejon and I couldn't believe it but it disc out the clad dime. I tried a clad quarter but even at max it was still there.

Maybe somebody out there can explain the purpose of this, may be quarter and up hunting. Just checked and it will also disc out a silver dime at the same setting as the clad dime.

I think most of the other detectors I have had would not disc out higher than a zinc penny.

Just wondering,

Disc is sometimes run high for a fast check of an area........... Tesoro puts a full range discriminator on their machines.. Some other companies do not..

I can think of no plausible reason to disc out a dime. Even if you just want quarters, some of them will be missed.

Well, the discrimination IS adjustable. You can set it to accept any level you prefer.

Well, not any I have, they just max out on the disc level before you lose copper pennies, and clad dimes.
I guess at max you may be only looking for Half dollars or water meter covers LOL!

Really, other detectors will not disc out that high, I mean what would you be looking for at max disc if it only picks up LARGE coins?

I could see cherry picking like Elton said above.

Lets say you find this ball field and you are pretty sure there is some change on the ground. Just a thought, you could run that disc up to where it takes out the dimes and just run through the field and cash in on the bigger money. Then with your pocket full of quarters and larger coins, you could go back over the same area with a lower disc setting and and take the rest of the coins.

Really, when I find out something like this higher disc setting, I kind of like to figure a way that I can take advantage of it.

Also would like to say just because the Tejon has a little higher disc setting than any other machine I have used. I am not saying this is a bad thing, just glad I found out it does that and thought I would pass the info on and maybe several would have some good use for a little extra disc control.
