Why no washers on F70 coil?

John(Tx)

New member
I put rubber washers on my F70 stock coil and it holds it's place alot better. Why doesn't it come with washers from the factory? The manual says that it doesn't use washers but doesn't say why. Thanks, John

Hi John,

I too wondered about that. I even contacted my selling dealer to say the washers were missing !

After mumbling a bit, I just went ahead and put the coil on without the washers and there has been no problem since. I DID think of adding some thin washers however didnt want to put any stress on the coil ears and have them crack at the coil itself.

After the first few minutes of using it without the washers, I stopped worrying about it. The coil never flops on me even in wet grass.

If I worked at Fisher, and had some say in the design, I would at least change the lower rod where the coil meets to not be able to accomodate washers. A smooth flat contact point seems to be more logical, in MY mind anyways.

The F70 works so well and keeps me digging that I overlook many of the little things.

put more stress on the pieces that stick up off the coil with the holes & eventually crack them sometimes.....I'm sure there's a better name for those pieces, but that's the reason. There was alot of experimenting.....I think they were using 1 washer at some point. I have no problem without them, & wouldn't reccomend using 2 if you can help it as it wouldn't be fun to have to send it back for a cracked coil piece....

in there are just about flush with maybe less than 1/64" sticking out, I'll probably just remove them, sure don't want those ears to crack. Thanks for the info. John

Make the ears on the coil thicker and stronger, that is not the place to save on plastic.
I have seen this on other units to.
CZ coils are tough.

Hey BJ,

Them CZ coils are the most durable coil I have ever used, but I sure dont miss the weight of em.

the absolute WORST place to add any weight is at the end of the rod, ie, the coil area. Leverage comes into play. An ounce or two over at the very end of the s-rod at the coil mounting location may end up feeling like a whole lot more weight than it truly is. I know washers dont weigh much yet beefing up a coil to CZ specs would turn this lightweight unit into something feeling kinda lopsided in favor of the coil end.

Did you breakdown and get one of the F series tectors yet?

Tony
