Why No SunRay X-1 for This Thing?

I got a 3030 on order from my favorite detector dealer & forum sponsor -- Detector Depot! Just curious why there's no X-1 for this machine....still having a tough time putting down my trusty Explorer SE Pro, but this machine caught my attention. I ordered a Minelab pinpointer too, but also have the Garrett sitting around. X-1 and VibraProbe combo is the duo I really prefer! Gonna miss that X-1 (except for that darned switchbox...LOL)! Hope the 3030 outperforms the Explorer!

This is what I've read concerning the inline probe for 3030. You probably don't know this but the CTX's coil cable is actually y'd at the control box, meaning there are 2 connectors. And the coils for the CTX have some form of additional electronics; hence the term labeled "smart coils". I read where the folks at Sunray have already looked at the CTX's configuration and said they would not be making any inline probes.. I don't know if it's because it's not plausible, cost effective, or a combination of both.

The coils for the CTX have a chip in them and "talk" back and forth with the machine. Also, an inline probe wouldn't, allow the CTX to remain waterproof.

Just to add to what has been mentioned:

Where would you connect it? You can't connect it to the box as it must be closed to be functional.
You would have to splice the coil before it goes into the lower rod. Not sure how or if that would affect things, but I can imagine at the very lease balance would be WAY off.
If you wanted to connect it higher up, you would have to destroy some of the water proofing abilities.

The only solution I see is a wireless one and I doubt that is in the plans.

All of the physical and waterproofing issues can be solved rather easily. It is the electronics in the coil that, I'm sure, is the impediment. The chip may be patent by Minelab and they may not want to license it or provide details of how it works.

If they were smart they would have just copied the basic design and incorporate it into the whole line as an option. They could probably do a much better job anyway as it would not be an add on. The basic design with the little toggle switch is horrible any way and the aesthetics are a bit ungainly--almost looks homemade. Having said that it's really the only game in town. Nice that it goes through your discrimination settings and into your headphones. A wireless one with a sensor to turn it on when it's removed from the clip would be awesome!
