Why No SEF Coils For The XLT, QXT, 6000, & Other Low Frequency Whites?

As most of us know there are a lot of low frequency older Whites models that all use the same compatible coils. One would think that for that reason there are probably more of these Whites units than any other machines on the market. Besides the 9.5" coil, the only larger coil for these machines is the 12" Concentric Hot Shot coil. There have been mixed reviews on that coil. I know I tried two new ones and they would become unstable on my QXT after a few minutes of use. Low frequency machines do better in my soil and hit harder on silver and copper coins, so I'm not a fan of the newer high frequency Whites. The QXT Pro was the deepest machine I owned for years until I moved on to Minelab. Had there been larger coils available for it to push depths deeper I might have held onto it.

I'm just wondering why Detech wouldn't want to tap this extensive market of potential coil buyers? It would give new life (and depths) to some really good machines. The only thing I can figure is that perhaps double D coils don't work well on these low frequency Whites machines since I've never seen a DD coil for them. Anybody have any inside information on why there are no SEF coils for these units?

White's had a 15 inch coil for the 6000 detector. There used to be DD coils available too. I thnk you don't see them anymore because the detector was discontinued so long ago.

I'm aware of that 15" coil but heard it wasn't very good for coin sized targets. Mainly a cache coil.

The SEF coils does in fact work on the lower frequencies, the DFX and V series are in the 2.5 to 3 kHz single frequency range and the SEF's work fine. I'm just guessing that Detech might consider making new coils for discontinued detectors not a good business decision due to the limited market.

It depends on how you look at it. There are MANY of those low frequency Whites models out there. Probably more of those as a group that are compatible with each other's coils compared to any other detector on the market. Seems to me it would bring new life to those once great machines in order to push them deeper to try to keep up with more modern detectors. Those low frequency machines did better in my mineralized soil than any machine I've owned, except of course my Minelabs.
