Why is Joey coil not waterproof?

OK, so the Coiltek Joey coil is not waterproof, but why and how much moisture/wetness can it stand.

More importantly where does it 'leak' ...where does water get into the coil casing? Just through the cable connector or is it a 'split' casing .

Can it be sealed ? surely if it is just the cable entry point, then a different type of cable clamp/passthru could be used.

Silicon/epoxy ????

I know a couple of guys using them that have had lots of problems using them in wet grass. If you Silicon the Cover on helps. Why not use the Stock coil, They are both 10 inch's long?

Always do use the stock at the moment, but just bought a WOT coil on e-bay and got carried away mand bid on the joey as well. Both coils for less than the price of a new WOT. Since I got it, may as well try and use it, as I got it a s a bonus, dont mind mucking round with it to try and fully waterproof it

Suppose I could just fiberglass the whole thing!!

I have used it in trashy areas and it gets between the trash item and the coins for excellent seperation and depth that the stock coil is mostly masking the targets at times since it is wider and has more targets under it each swing.
