WHY IS COMPADRE A JEWELRY HOUND?

Woodchuck

New member
Why does Compadre do so well on jewelry? is it because everybody is digging the pulltabs etc where we know rings an such are? Or is it what Tesoro put in it like the ED 180 componets..? i'm trying to figure out if I get one if it will really inprove my jewelry finds?. I have the Tesoro made Troy X2 and I have found a 14KT gold chain with it and 10KT mens gold ring with it. running disc at 2.5 where I pick up pulltabs etc and i dig em. The Troy is 10 khz and Compadre is 12KHZ so they are close in that respect. Now on the Troy I have tested the mens ring hit loud has high as 6 disc on before starting break up.I also know X2 is based on Tesoro Silver Sabre Umax older model not newer Silver. So I guess my question is will i be gaining anything by getting one? And only other question I have I'm in Roanoke Va will it do ok here if I get one, surprisinglu X2 does ok here for set ground balance. Any help or answer would be welcome Thanks

For my reference, I use Monte-and I have found his posts extremely accurate. Also, my use of the Compadre verifies his statements-so I hope not to appear as a guru. The low-noise,high-gain circuitry used in the most recent Tesoros actually deters them from finding the small gold-and I'm talking about fine gold chains and stud earrings. It also hampers their performance in certain iron and mineral environments. It's not the size of the coil. It also has to do with a TRUE ED-180 disc range-which despite the claims, some of the others aren't. My latest encounter was a fine gold chain found WHILE the disc was set to just reject paper clips. I had to scrape it on the coil of my Silver umax in a ball to even get a tiny blip. I was immediately deluged with posts saying it was the size of the coil. I quickly put the 5.75" coil on my Silver and the results weren't any different-no signal. Is there a downside? Well, the tiniest pieces of foil, etc will give a tiny signal. I once found a ballpoint pen refill because of either the metal ball bearing or a tiny metal band holding the nib in the refill. Once you get to larger pieces of gold, all Tesoros find it well. I would leave a final word: Even though touted as fast sweepers, they get better depth in mineralized soil at slower sweep speeds AND the tiny gold gives a better signal.

Who knows, but it does! I haven't gotten out with mine that much, but I love that little thing. Get one! It is totally worth the money!
