Why I extended my summer vacation......

Went back to hit those fields in Maine for a couple of days. I finished a field that I haven't given much attention. I found 6 Draped Large cents. Make that 5. I found a bent one that has no details at all. One has only the 2 at the end showing (1802) and another is probably the clearest LC I have found yet (photo), it's an1800 and looks like a 80 over 79. The 18 is hard to see in the photo, but it does appear to have the 0 over 9. Is it okay to put a dab of mineral oil on old copper that has patina, or will the oil eventually remove it?
I also found another Spanish silver (photo) with very little detail. It is a different size than the other 4 I found. 2 where definitely 2 reales and I thought the other 2 where 1 reales, but this coins size fits between them both (slightly larger than a penny). Maybe the other 2 I found are 1/2 reales?, and this one is a 1 reale? In the sunlight you can make out the 17 part of the date.
I'm curious about the button (photo). It's a little different from the tombacs I have been finding. On the back it reads "Imperial Standard." Any info would be appreciated.
I also found an 1901 IH and another crotal bell. I wish I knew how to clean up old brass.
.......................Thanks Rich

As far as cleaning old brass, 99.9% of the time collectors do nothing more than rinse away with distilled water and toothbrush (gently, after soaking in a warm water/soap bath for 15 minutes). If you remove the "chocolate patina" what you'll have is a pitted copper/brass object, with less detail. What I use on copper coins is Blue Ribbon conditioner. Sometimes I use it on buttons, depending upon what it is. Less is best when dealing with coins.
